Welcome to KATA Trans (“the App”). This App is developed and operated by its developer Mu Maobing (“we”, “us”, or “Developer”). We value your privacy and the security of your personal information. This “Privacy Policy” explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information, as well as your rights regarding this information.
We adhere to the principles of “Minimum Necessity” and “Client-Cloud Synergy”, utilizing Apple CloudKit’s private cloud technology to maximize your data sovereignty.
1. How We Collect and Use Your Information
We collect and use your personal information for legal, legitimate, and necessary purposes:
1. Account and Identity
- Information Collected: When you use Sign in with Apple, we only receive the anonymous User ID provided by Apple.
- Purpose: To create a unique account system ensuring your membership benefits (Credits) and translation history can sync across devices.
- Note: We never mandate the collection of your phone number, real name, precise location, or access to your contacts.
2. Core Translation Services
To provide translation features, we process your input data:
- Text Translation: Text you input is encrypted and uploaded to our servers, then distributed to partner AI engines (Tencent Hunyuan, DeepSeek) for processing.
- Voice/Image (Tibetan): These media files are transmitted to iFlyTek for immediate recognition due to technical requirements.
- Image Cache: Temporary images during the Tibetan OCR process are stored in encrypted cloud storage (Tencent Cloud COS).
3. Data Sync and Backup
- CloudKit Sync: We use the system-level CloudKit service to automatically encrypt and sync your translation history (text, original images, audio) to your Apple iCloud storage.
- Rights: Image and Voice files are your private assets; keys are managed by Apple, and we cannot view them. Text history is cached on our application servers for 3 months to enable cross-device roaming.
4. Fraud Prevention & New User Rewards
- Information Collected: Device unique identifier (via Apple Keychain).
- Collection Method: System-level Keychain service, generated and stored in the device’s secure enclave.
- Purpose:
- Prevent malicious users from fraudulently claiming new user rewards through repeated uninstall/reinstall.
- Ensure each device can only claim new user Credits once.
- Detect abnormal registration behavior to protect service security.
- Important Notes:
- This identifier is only stored in your device’s Keychain; we do not upload or store it on our servers.
- Even if you uninstall the app, the identifier remains on the device (iOS system feature).
- We cannot use this identifier to track your other behaviors or link it to your real identity.
5. User Feedback & Customer Support (Optional)
- Information Collected: Contact information you voluntarily choose to provide in the feedback form (WeChat ID, phone number, email, etc.).
- Collection Method: User voluntarily fills in the feedback form.
- Purpose:
- Respond to your questions or suggestions.
- Follow up on feedback processing progress.
- Provide better customer service.
- Required: ❌ No, you can submit anonymous feedback.
- Important Notes:
- We do not proactively request this information.
- You can submit feedback completely anonymously without affecting our ability to address your issue.
- If you provide contact information, we only use it to respond to your feedback, not for marketing or other purposes.
- Feedback information will be retained for 6 months after processing, then automatically deleted.
2. Data Storage and Retention
We store your personal information within Chengdu, Sichuan, China and servers within Mainland China in accordance with laws and regulations.

3. Information Sharing
To provide our services, KATA Trans (developed and operated by Mu Maobing or “Developer”) shares necessary data with partners. We only share information for legal, legitimate, necessary, specific, and clear purposes.
- Smart Voice, Image Recognition & Machine Translation:
- iFlyTek: Tibetan Voice/Image recognition & Machine Translation (Audio/Image/Text data).
- Generative AI & Large Model Services:
- Tencent Hunyuan / DeepSeek: Text machine translation & AI Analysis (Pure text data).
- Infrastructure:
- Tencent Cloud COS: Transit storage for Tibetan OCR images (Encrypted image data).
- Apple iCloud: Secure data sync and storage.

4. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access & Copy: Your history is fully displayed in the App timeline for your review at any time.
- Deletion:
- Single Item: Click the menu button on a single record to delete.
- Delete Server Data: You can use the “Settings -> Account -> Delete Server Data” feature in the App to clear your history cache stored on the cloud with one click.
- Account Cancellation: You can delete your account via “Settings -> Account -> Delete Account”. This action is irreversible. We will immediately delete all identifiers and text data associated with your account from our servers, and any remaining Credits will also be cleared.
- Withdraw Consent: You can revoke permissions (Microphone, Camera, etc.) in system settings at any time.
5. Security Measures
- Encryption: All data transmission uses HTTPS / TLS 1.2+ strong encryption protocol, to prevent eavesdropping.
- Access Control: Strict permission controls on servers ensure data is only accessed by automated systems, not unauthorized personnel.
- De-identification: User IDs are stripped when sending requests to third-party AI engines; only the content to be translated is transmitted.
6. Children’s Privacy
- This App is a General Audience Application, and we welcome students and teenagers to use our service for language learning and translation.
- If you are under 14, please read this policy under the guidance of your guardian and use the service.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we discover such collection without verifiable guardian consent, we will delete the data as soon as possible.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
- Website: Our official website and API services do not use Cookies, Pixel Tags, or any tracking technologies.
- App: The App does not contain advertising SDKs or crash analytics SDKs, and does not track you or build user profiles.
8. Special Notice on Cross-Border Data Transfer
- Mainland China Users: Your data processing is completed entirely within Mainland China and does not involve cross-border data transfer out of China.
- Users Outside Mainland China: Since our servers and AI engines are deployed in Mainland China, you understand and agree that your input translation data will be transferred to servers in Mainland China for processing. You acknowledge that data protection laws in this location may differ from those in your country/region. We will protect your data security in strict accordance with the laws of the People’s Republic of China and this Privacy Policy.
